Tafe TI Campus Modernisation

Located 40km off the coast of the Cape York Peninsula, TAFE Queensland’s Thursday Island Campus offers modern learning facilities to this remote island community. JMc Architects was appointed principal consultant managing the design and documentation of the modernisation and improvements to two key buildings to enhance the function of classrooms and the flow of students between them.

Improvements to Block A and Block B were aimed at creating a new cultural hub for the creative industries students at the TAFE Thursday Island Campus. JMc Architects was responsible for engaging and coordinating specialist consultants for the required stages, preliminary design, schematic design and contract documentation.

The concept design finishes were influenced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art and prominent colours. A wall mural by a local artist is a significant element in the modernisation of the site.
