Julianne Field is Director of JMc Architects and a highly respected architect with more than 20 years’ experience delivering thoughtful, enduring and award-recognised architecture across Queensland, particularly throughout Cairns and Far North Queensland.
Known for her strong design leadership and calm, highly considered approach, Julianne has built a reputation for guiding complex projects from early concept through to documentation and delivery with clarity, rigour and professionalism. Her experience extends across education, health, emergency services, government, commercial and residential sectors, with a body of work defined by design quality, functionality and responsiveness to place.
Julianne is particularly valued for her ability to balance architectural vision with practical delivery. She leads projects with a strong focus on client relationships, consultant coordination, stakeholder engagement and design resolution, ensuring each project is both highly functional and carefully executed. Her collaborative and articulate leadership style has earned the trust of clients, consultants, project managers and contractors across the region.
Her work has contributed to a wide range of significant projects in Far North Queensland, including public, community and institutional buildings as well as bespoke residential work. More recently, her leadership of the Cairns Neighbourhood Centre has been recognised through the 2025 architecture awards program, including sustainability-focused recognition at both regional and Queensland levels, reflecting her commitment to architecture that is socially responsive, environmentally responsible and grounded in place.
A Fellow of the Australian Institute of Architects, Julianne is deeply committed to the profession and to the role architecture plays in strengthening communities. Her long-standing contribution to the Institute and to regional practice reflects her passion for design excellence, professional leadership and meaningful built outcomes.
